ANSWER

1. What is the difference between a heat strip and a heat pump?

Answer:Simply put, a Heat Strip is an air conditioner that uses an electric heat strip for heating needs. A Heat Pump is an air conditoner that has a reversing valve; instead of the heat coming out of the back, the reversing valve reverses the cycle so the heat comes out of the front, making your air conditioner a heater.

2. I was wondering if you have any units that fit the crank-out style windows; is there a separate installation kit?

Answer:Check our casement units page; no sleeves are made for this type of window. You will have to make a custom installation for the casement unit.

3. Are the measurements listed (height, width, depth) for the actual unit, or for the outside sleeve measurement? I am trying to fit my existing through the wall openings.

Answer:It is the measurement of the outside diameter of the sleeve of the unit.

4. Are these units new or refurbished? The prices seem very low compared to local retail stores. I just want to be sure that the unit I buy from Genie Air Conditioning is a new unit.

Answer:Yes, all of our units are brand new unless specified on the page.

5. How do you figure out how many BTU's you need?

Answer:Usually for every 400 square feet we recommend 12,000 BTU'S.

6. Do all air conditioners come with sleeves?

Answer:No, some models are replacements only. Check specs to see if the unit comes with a sleeve and if the unit is a wall unit.

7. Is a window kit included on all units?

Answer:No, some models are replacements only. Check specs to see if the model comes with a window kit and if the unit is a window unit and what type of window unit.

8. What is the difference between a Window kit and a Trim kit?

Answer:Window Kit come with depending on manufacturer wither is side curtains for up and down window or sometimes window support brackets. A Trim kit is generally a hard plastic trim type frame around the air conditioner unit to fill the gap between the air conditioner and the existing sleeve in the wall.

9. Do room air conditioners dehumidify?

Answer:All air conditioners take moisture out of the air but they are not considered a dehumidifier on their own. We do sell individual dehumidifiers.

10. What "EER" is all about?

Answer: The "Energy Efficiency Ratio" (EER) of a room air conditioner is a rating of its operating efficiency. To determine the EER, you divide the BTU/Hr cooling capacity by the amount of electric power consumed (watts). The higher the EER, the more cooling your customer gets for his money and the lower the operating costs for comparable cooling capacity. Each model's EER is clearly marked on it's energy hang tag.

11. Do you have Window and Wall Air Conditioners that don't stick out of my wall?

Answer:Yes, They are called Solid Sided Sleeves. If you wish to order an Air Conditioner with Sold Sided Sleeve, we would need to know the height and width of the area where you would be putting the Air Conditioner along with what voltage you have available for the air conditioner.

12. What is the difference between 115 Volts Air Conditioner and 230 Volts Air conditioner?

Answer:115 Volts Air Conditioner uses the standard voltage in your home/office. 230 Volts takes different breaker amps (examples: 15 amp Tandem     20 amp Perpendicular     30 amp Large Tandem) which give you a different plug type.(For pictures of the different plug types go to question 14)

13. Do I need to purchase a bucket for my Portable Air Conditioner?

Answer:No, most Portable Air Conditioners come with a bucket. If the Portable does not come with a bucket it will be specified in the specs of that unit.
